“...there’s something about porcelain that resin just doesn’t have...”
This phrase came from a dear collector of my dolls who live in England, when she wanted to explain her preference for porcelain over resin dolls.
It made me smile. We all have this same feeling when looking at porcelain, it comes from our inner self.
That’s why we instantly connect to porcelain, some of us will feel it stronger, some of us will not notice.
But it’s there. This “something ” that porcelain has and resin don’t is NATURE.
The nature inside ourselves connects with the nature on porcelain.
Porcelain is all nature. And the process of making porcelain pieces is all nature as well.
The clay for porcelain comes from earth, when water is added it becomes slip to fluid well in molds.
Then air makes its part, drying it and making it hard, preparing for the last and most wonderful stage: FIRE!
It is fire that brings the clay to a new, rigid and strong form: FINALLY PORCELAIN!
So easy to see now, how the 4 elements of nature: earth, water, air and fire are so perfectly bond inside a porcelain doll.
As simple as we all have the 4 elements inside ourselves, the nature inside of us connects to the nature of porcelain.
